A client recently asked me if they really need to set up email bounce processing with our SendManager email marketing software and why does it matter wont my valid emails just go through and the bounces simply fail.
The answer is its very important to manage your bounced email addresses and send to clean email lists. Internet Service Providers will block some or all of your email campaigns if you have a high bounce rate.
Keeping a clean email address list with help improve your reputation with ISP’s.
There are two types of bounces Hard and Soft.
Hard Bounces: Are invalid email addresses that are no longer used and should not be sent to.
Soft Bounces: Are emails that may be monitored but have bounced for various reasons like the mailbox is full etc. Sendmanager will allow 5 soft bounces with an email address and then change the status to a hard bounce.
